Day 1: Blois - Chambord - Blois

41 km or 47 km

2 routes to choose from

Via a beautiful cycle path on the left bank of the Loire, you reach Saint Dyé. Nicknamed “port of Chambord”, it is today a peaceful village which saw the arrival in the 16th century of the materials and tufa stones necessary for the construction of the Chambord castle.
You leave the banks of the Loire to enter the Chambord forest. Soon the majestic silhouette of the most famous castle of the Loire emerges, the Renaissance masterpiece desired by François I. Take advantage of a break to explore the numerous rooms and royal apartments, admire the coffered vaults sculpted with salamanders, take the astonishing double revolution staircase without ever meeting each other and reach the immense roof terraces bristling with chimneys and richly decorated turrets .
You get back on your bike to return to Blois via the long shaded paths of the Chambord forest and small country roads.

46km

With this new bike loop, head towards the Château de Cheverny. Along the way, you cycle on small roads in the middle of the typical landscapes of the Loire Valley through fields, orchards, vineyards, moors and meadows.

Stop at Cheverny. The castle built in the 17thth century in a classical style is one of the largest and certainly the most richly furnished castle of the Loire. Its architecture even inspired Hergé to design Moulinsart; a permanent interactive exhibition will delight Tintin fans.

On the way back, small bucolic roads lead their way to the beautiful Russy forest which you cross before reaching Blois.

Option: Château de Cheverny (included in the Chateaux Package)

Free visit of the castle, the park and the 6 thematic gardens.

This simple route on flat terrain takes you to the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire via small roads through woods and fields and on a superb cycle path along the Cosson and the Loire. The Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire, which overlooks the river, is worth spending several hours there, particularly for its extraordinary International Garden Festival where each year around thirty landscape artists from all over the world present their original creations.

When returning to Blois, three options are available to you: take the train to Blois, take the same route as on the way there or get off the beaten track by exploring the Cisse valley.
