Day 1: Blois - Chambord - Blois
40km - 52km - 67km

Your cycling trip begins with an excursion from Blois to the Château de Chambord.

Going up the Loire via a cycle path which stretches between the river and the levee, you reach the historic village of Saint Dyé. Take advantage of these kilometers of greenway to observe and feel the power of the last wild river in Europe.

Then head to the Domaine de Chambord, its forest and its castle, the masterpiece of the French Renaissance. Take a break to explore the many rooms and take the monumental and fascinating double spiral staircase up to the magnificent terraced roofs.

You return to Blois via small bucolic roads crossing the AOC Cheverny vineyards, fields and meadows.

Two extensions are proposed with a detour through the Sologne forest and the Cheverny castle.

Take advantage of the end of the day to discover Blois, its historic districts and its castle. Every evening, a magnificent sound and light offer a great way to review our French history lessons.

During this day, you follow a route dotted with small, quiet country roads and numerous shaded cycle paths along the Loire. Along the way, take the time to visit the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire. The castle, majestically overlooking the Loire, has a fortified-looking architecture very marked by the Renaissance. In its park, labeled remarkable garden, is held every year from the end of April to the beginning of November the International Garden Festival. Around thirty artists from the four corners of the globe present poetic, original and unexpected landscape creations. Do not miss !

After this stop, continue your bike route to Amboise via the banks of the Loire and the wine-growing hillsides. The small Loire town welcomes you with its lively medieval streets, its charming boutiques, its wine cellars and good places to dine.
