Day 1: Blois

Arrival in Blois. Bike-free day. Take advantage of this moment to stroll through the historic districts, from the banks of the Loire to the panoramic terraces of the Bishop's Gardens. Don't miss a visit to the Royal Castle and, at nightfall, let yourself be enchanted by the splendid sound and light show in the courtyard of the castle.

Day 2: Blois - Chambord - Blois

First cycling loop around Blois. You follow the majestic river and enjoy the calm and serene atmosphere of the Loire. In this natural setting, ideal for starting your cycling holiday, each pedal stroke leads you a little closer to Chambord.
Upon arrival in Chambord, let yourself be seduced by the imposing Renaissance château, surrounded by its immense park and gardens. Explore this architectural masterpiece and stroll through the Chambord forest, a great place to observe the local flora and fauna
Get back on your bike for a return to Blois via the long shaded paths of the Chambord forest and the small country roads.

Day 3: Blois - Cheverny - Blois

New cycling loop from Blois via the Cheverny Castle. You cycle on small roads through the typical landscapes of the Loire Valley, through fields, orchards, vineyards and meadows.
Discover picturesque villages of the Sologne with their traditional brick and half-timbered houses. Visit the Château of Cheverny. Built in the Classical style, it is renowned for its elegance and its beautiful gardens. Each room houses a priceless collection of furniture. The castle gave Hergé the inspiration for Captain Haddock's Marlinspike, and a permanent interactive exhibition retraces episodes of the adventures of Tintin and his friends.
Return to Blois via small country roads which lead you through the Russy forest before reaching the banks of the Loire and Blois.

Day 4: Blois - Amboise

You'll follow a picturesque itinerary, criss-crossing small countryside roads and cycle paths along the Loire à Vélo. Along the way, take the time to visit the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire. This castle overlooking the Loire harmoniously combines fortified and Renaissance architecture. Its park hosts the prestigious International Garden Festival, where around thirty artists unveil poetic, original and surprising landscape creations. A must-see!

After this discovery, continue your cycle route towardsAmboise where you will stay for three nights. Take the opportunity to explore the Royal Castle, witness to the great hours of French history, as well as the Château du Clos Lucé, the last home of Leonardo da Vinci. The medieval streets, small shops, wine cellars and numerous restaurants complete the charm of this city.

Day 5: Amboise - Chenonceaux - Amboise

Go for a day of cycling to discover the Chenonceau Castle, a true jewel of the French Renaissance. The route takes you on small roads and cycle paths crossing the Amboise forest and along the banks of the Cher. As you approach Chenonceau, let yourself be amazed by the breathtaking view of the castle and its famous gallery bridge, a unique structure in the world. Nicknamed the "Château des Dames", it was offered by Henri II to his favorite Diane de Poitiers. After his death, Queen Catherine de Medicis took possession of it, exchanging the castle for the one in Chaumont. These two powerful women each contributed to making it the elegant castle that we admire today.

Return to Amboise by a new route.

Day 6: Amboise - excursion to the Montlouis-sur-Loire vineyard

Departing from Amboise, this bike ride takes you to the heart of the Montlouis-sur-Loire vineyard, renowned for its white wines. The route winds through picturesque landscapes, between the banks of the Loire and the wine-growing hillside. After a few kilometers you can take a break at the Aquarium de Touraine.
The 31 km route is an opportunity to visit the Maison Laudacius cellar and enjoy a wine tasting.

Return to Amboise by a new route.

Day 7: Amboise

How to get to Blois?

By train :

  • From Paris Austerlitz TER station direct (approximately 1:30 a.m.) or with connection to Orléans (approximately 2:00 a.m.)
  • From Paris Montparnasse station by TGV to Saint Pierre des Corps then by TER to Blois (approximately 2h00)

Blois Chambord train station is located 500 meters from the castle.

By car :

  • From Paris 1:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. via the A10 motorway (Paris-Orléans-Bordeaux) exit no. 17 in Blois
  • From Lyon – Exit n°14 on the A85 motorway at Romorantin (30 minutes south of Blois)

Where to park in Blois?

You can park in the Stationeo underground car parks (7-day package around €35). You can pay upon arrival in the car park, so you can come and go as many times as you like. The Château car park is ideally located in the heart of Blois and at the foot of the château. The Stationeo underground car parks have charging stations for electric vehicles.

Your first day does not include a bike excursion. You arrive at your convenience and before the reception of your accommodation closes.

Cycle tours

  • The bikes

    We work with cycle professionals whose comfortable and robust bikes are renewed, maintained and serviced regularly. Each bike is equipped with a handlebar bag, a rear bag (15 or 20 liters) and a helmet. We provide smartphone support and repair kit per reservation. We provide breakdown assistance on all our rental bikes.

    Your stay includes the rental of a VTC (all-road bike) adapted to your size or that of your child.

    You have the option of opting for a electric bike. With an average range of 80 kilometers, the electric bike allows you to enjoy each stage with ease, whatever the distance and elevation. Note that this type of bike requires a minimum height of 1m55 and maximum of 1m90. 

    For children, we offer a wide range of solutions depending on their age: child seat, child trailer, follower bike, follow-me system.

    The terms and conditions for collecting and returning your bike are communicated in the travel diary.

    You can also come with your own bike. Please note that in this case, you will not be able to benefit from breakdown assistance, will not be able to rent accessories and the possible repatriation of your bike to the starting point will have to be organized by you yourself.

  • Transferring luggage from one stage to another

    If you have requested baggage transfer or if the service is already included in your package, you are asked to drop it off each morning at the reception of your accommodation, before 9:00 a.m. They are delivered to you during the day, before 6:00 p.m., to your next accommodation.

  • The travel diary

    Before your departure, you will receive a travel diary containing all the information useful to your stay:

    • The detailed program of your trip, day by day (meeting time and address on the first day, accommodation details, useful addresses, points of interest, etc.).
    • Connection to our GPS application during your trip (step-by-step route, points of interest and practical information).
    • Exchange vouchers.
    • Tourist information and advice for cycling with complete peace of mind.
    • A support number.
  • What to do with your bike at the end of your stay?

    We organize the repatriation of all bicycles rented with Trip à Vélo during our roaming stays. For loop or star stays, the bikes are returned by you to partner establishments. In all cases, the drop-off address will be communicated to you in the travel diary.

    If you came with your own bike, any repatriation must be organized by you. Regional TERs accept bicycles on board (see the conditions on the SNCF website: www.sncf.com ).

  • How do I get back to the starting city?

    If you have to return to the city of departure, the return must be organized by you. 

    By train: numerous TER trains serve the cities of Orléans, Blois, Onzain, Amboise, Tours and Saumur at a high daily frequency during the season. You can already consult the SNCF website: www.sncf.com. You will also find more information on timetables in your travel diary.
