Day 1: Tours - Vouvray - Amboise

32 km - 37 km

Tours is the starting point for this mini bike road trip. At the market halls, stock up on local products for your picnic: rillons, rillettes, Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine... and after collecting your bike, let yourself be guided along the Vouvray wine route.

You cross the Loire on the Saint-Symphorien footbridge, a suspension bridge reserved for pedestrians and bicycles, then you cycle on the cycle paths along the Loire, between the river and the tuffeau cliffs. The route continues on the hillside where the Vouvray vineyard is located. Take the opportunity to penetrate the depths of the troglodyte cellars that line the route and meet the wine producers.

On arrival in Amboise, discover the royal castle, the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci and from the gardens enjoy a unique panorama of the Loire Valley. A little further, discover Clos Lucé, the final resting place of Leonardo da Vinci and the giant models of some of his futuristic inventions.

At the foot of the Château d'Amboise, the evenings are pleasant, the medieval streets and the banks of the Loire are ideal for strolling and tasting local specialties.

Option: Château d’Amboise and Manoir du Clos Lucé (included in the Chateaux Package)

Self-guided tour of the Royal Château d'Amboise and the Manoir du Clos Lucé

Day 2: Amboise - Montlouis - Tours

28km - 40km

Your bike tour continues towards the capital of Tours with two routes to choose from:

  • 28km option: you alternate between cycle paths along the Loire and the peaceful roads of the AOC Montlouis wine hillside. Long tracking shots on the Loire allow you to admire the grandiose beauty of the last wild river in Europe.
  • 40 km option: through the Amboise forest and along the banks of the Cher, the very shaded route takes you along paths and cycle paths. Needle dams, successions of small private castles… this very bucolic route is enchanting.

Tours is a city steeped in history with an exceptional heritage, like Place Plumereau with its half-timbered houses and Saint Gatien Cathedral. To be explored on foot or by bike before the end of your stay.
